Heating Oil Delivery

Home heating oil delivery service in Dorchester, West Roxbury, Bridgewater and surrounding towns

oil delivery massachusetts

Whenever you need heating oil delivered to your home, you can rely on the team at Scott Williams to be there for you. As a full-service company, we give you two delivery options.

Option 1: Automatic deliveries

Most of our customers are on an automatic delivery schedule. With this plan, our computer system tracks how much fuel your home will typically use based on how cold it is outside. We will deliver your fuel automatically, usually when your tank gets to be one-quarter full. The result: no more tank watching, no more run-outs and no more calling for a delivery. Our automatic delivery service is easy, convenient and FREE!

To our customers on Automatic Delivery: Our computerized system tracks your fuel usage history as well as day-to-day temperatures, which we measure by “heating degree-days.” Based on this information, we know when your tank is about one-quarter full, which is when we’ll schedule your delivery. However, during the COVID-19 crisis, we have noticed differences in normal fuel usage for many of our customers. If you have had recent changes in your household (e.g. working from home, kids home from college, others staying with you) – or conversely, not currently living in the home we service, all of which could affect the amount of fuel you’re using – please contact or call our office at 617-861-9689. Thank you!

Option 2: Calling for your fuel

If, for some reason, you prefer to call in your order each time, please be aware that there is a gap between the time you place your order and the time we can actually deliver it. This is necessary because a “will-call” delivery has to be fit into our carefully scheduled routes.

Not being part of our automatic delivery program also means that you have to take full responsibility for monitoring your tank level at regular intervals. You are also at greater risk for a run-out. TIP: When your oil tank level reaches the one-quarter mark, you should call for more fuel.

FAQs about automatic deliveries

Q: Won’t I go through more oil with automatic deliveries?
A: No. Contrary to this common misconception, you won’t use more oil. We can only replace what you’ve already used. An oil tank is like a teapot. Full is full!

Q: Do you wait to deliver when prices are highest?
A: Absolutely not! Daily changes in wholesale prices make this impossible, not to mention that we’d have to reschedule and juggle all of our delivery routes. Besides, if we delayed deliveries, people would run out of fuel. That’s what we’re trying to prevent!

Q: How do you know when I need more fuel?
A: Our computerized system tracks your fuel usage history as well as day-to-day temperatures, which we measure by “heating degree-days.” Based on this information, we know when your tank is about one-quarter full, which is when we’ll schedule your delivery.

Q: What’s wrong with watching my tank on my own?
A: Nothing, but here are four reasons that you may prefer automatic deliveries instead.

1. If your tank gauge is faulty, you could get a false reading and you might think you have sufficient fuel when you don’t.

2. If you have an underground tank, you have to keep “sticking” it to check your fuel level.

3. If a sudden cold snap hits, you could use more heating oil in a shorter time than you intended or than you realize.
